Federated Wireless Wins Most Innovative Telco AI/ML Product or Solution in Light Reading’s 2026 Leading Lights Awards
Spectrum AI recognized for applying Physical AI at the radio frequency layer, where propagation and interference determine network capacity
ARLINGTON, Va., Sept. 14, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Federated Wireless today announced that Spectrum AI has won Most Innovative Telco AI/ML Product or Solution in Light Reading’s 2026 Leading Lights Awards. Spectrum AI applies Physical AI—artificial intelligence that models and responds to real-world physical conditions—to shared spectrum management.
Light Reading’s editors distinguished Spectrum AI as addressing what one judge called “a different order of problem” through its application of AI directly to the network’s physical foundation. Spectrum AI applies machine learning to radio propagation, interference and spectrum coordination at the radio frequency (RF) layer—helping operators unlock more capacity and value from existing spectrum.
“Operators need more capacity from the spectrum and infrastructure they already have,” said Iyad Tarazi, CEO of Federated Wireless. “By modeling the physical conditions that determine network performance, Spectrum AI helps operators identify capacity they can put to work and make better deployment decisions. We’re proud to see Light Reading recognize that innovation.”
Federated Wireless brings its experience in commercial spectrum coordination to this challenge. Its technology draws on real-world spectrum usage, interference and deployment data to improve network planning, coordination and optimization. Spectrum AI applies that intelligence to help operators use shared spectrum more efficiently.
In its June launch announcement, Federated Wireless reported field results across hundreds of live commercial Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) deployments, including:
- Up to fivefold improvement in network capacity, without additional spectrum or infrastructure investment.
- Up to 50% more usable spectrum capacity, through AI-driven coordination of existing spectrum allocations.
-
Up to 40% lower deployment costs, through reduced site requirements for equivalent coverage and capacity targets.
Now in its 22nd year, Light Reading’s Leading Lights Awards selected winners from 151 finalists across 30 categories. Entries were evaluated by editors and industry analysts, with claims assessed against submitted evidence, reporting and publicly available information.
